ABOUT MY APPROACH

What is documentary wedding photography? No posing, no directing, no staged moments. I photograph your wedding as it happens. You won't hear me say "look this way" or "do that again." The result is a set of images that show how your day actually felt - not how it was arranged for a camera.

Will you take group photos? If you want them, yes. Most couples give me a short list of family combinations and we get through them quickly. Outside of that, everything else is documentary.

How many photos will we get? It depends on the length of coverage and what happens on the day. As a rough guide, a full day wedding produces 500-800 edited images. Every image is individually edited.

Do you shoot in colour or black and white? Both. I deliver a mix based on what works best for each image. You'll get both versions where it makes sense.

What equipment do you use? Nikon. Two bodies, multiple lenses, full backup kit. Been shooting Nikon since 1988.

BOOKING AND LOGISTICS

How far in advance should we book? As soon as you have a date. Popular weekends in summer book 12-18 months ahead. Midweek and winter weddings are more flexible but I'd still recommend getting in touch early.

Do you travel? Yes. All UK travel costs are included in my packages. I shoot London and Europe regularly and have connections in Rome from living there in the late 80s. Destination weddings quoted on request.

What happens if you're ill on the day? In 20+ years and 500+ weddings, I've never missed one. But I have a network of trusted documentary photographers I can call on in an emergency.

Do you have insurance? Yes. Full public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

Can we meet before booking? Of course. Phone call, video call, or in person - whatever works.

PRICING AND PAYMENT

How much do you charge? Packages start at £1,400 for 8 hours. Full day unlimited coverage is £2,500. Quotes available for elopements, small weddings, or custom coverage. Full details on my prices page.

Do you offer payment plans? Yes. A deposit secures your date and the balance can be spread across instalments in the lead-up to the wedding.

What's included in the price? Me (Emil) photographing your wedding - no associates. All UK travel costs, fully edited high-resolution images, private online gallery, pre-wedding consultation, digital download delivery, and no printing restrictions.

Are there any hidden costs? No. The price I quote is the price you pay. Travel is included for UK weddings. For destination weddings I'll include travel costs in the quote upfront.

CULTURAL AND SPECIALIST WEDDINGS

Do you have experience with Asian weddings? Yes. I've photographed Sikh, Hindu, and Muslim weddings for over 20 years. I understand the ceremonies, the traditions, and when the key moments happen. That means I'm in the right position at the right time without needing to be told.

What about Jewish weddings? Yes. I've covered Jewish ceremonies across the UK including Orthodox and Reform traditions.

Do you photograph same-sex weddings? Yes. Absolutely.

Can you cover multi-day weddings? Yes. Many Asian weddings span two or three days. I can provide quotes for multi-day coverage.

Do you photograph other events? I photograph King's Counsel nomination ceremonies (Silks Day). Every year for the last three years, a different KC has hired me - all through recommendation. I'm also available for other events on request.

AFTER THE WEDDING

How long until we get our photos? Usually 6-8 weeks. Rush delivery is available as an optional extra if you need them sooner.

How are the photos delivered? Through a private, password-protected online gallery. You can download, share, and print directly from there. No restrictions.

Can we print the photos ourselves? Yes. You receive full high-resolution files with no printing restrictions. Print wherever you like, as many as you like.

Do you offer albums? Yes. Wedding albums start from £350. I'll share options and help you select images after delivery.

CREDENTIALS

What does #2 worldwide mean? In 2023 and 2024, the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) ranked me as the #2 documentary wedding photographer in the world based on awards won in international competition. I've also been #1 in the UK for multiple years.

What competitions do you judge? I've been invited to judge Fearless Photographers (twice), ISPWP, PKIR, and MyWed. These are among the biggest international wedding photography competitions.

How long have you been a photographer? Over 30 years. Had my first darkroom at 14. Started in press photography - newspapers in Canada and Poland. Been shooting weddings for 20+ years.
